SPRING SOCIAL MAY 18TH

Sailors Matt and John at the Spring Social sporting the official Yacht Club shirt for lake social functions. We forgot to specify tucked or untucked. We will take that up at the next protest meeting.

About sixty or soYacht Club members and new Grandview Lot Owners gathered at Donna Mount's beautiful home to greet one another after a long winter and celebrate the season ahead. We prayed for a safe season at the lake and for those traveling to and from.
We had some sprinkles of rain, but Donna's spacious accomodations kept us dry and able to move around, sample all the appetizers, and visit everyone. Thanks very much Donna for hosting us!

By the way, if you left one of the pictured items, you may pick it up at the GLOA office during business hours.

ALL ARE WELCOME!

Any Grandview lot owner or family member can sail or volunteer with us immediately. If you don't already sail, you can crew for our skippers and learn about sailing and racing. If you have a sailboat, just show up at the starting line 15 minutes prior to the 2:00pm starting horn and check in with the "committee boat".
We also need "Committee Boat" volunteers. The Committee Boat is the pontoon boat used for starting and timing the races. Those on board share the tasks involved, and enjoy the very best place to observe the dramas that occur during a typical race. The Committee Boat is the best place on the lake on Sunday afternoons.

We will guide you along. If interested please contact the Commodore, Tom Schroeder at 317-873-1637 (leave message).

Epic 6/25/17 Race: Only One Leg Remains on the Boat!

Which boat is ahead?

John Auld and Paul Hass in the yellow Y-Flyer shown here upwind and in a more advantageous position than Matt Bartlett and Tom Schroeder in the JY-15 to the right (Matt & Tom will have to tack to make it to the mark). Tom turned the helm of his JY-15 over to his more experienced crew on several occaisions which resulted in him accumulating lots of points in our scoring system. The system is designed such that there is no penalty to a captain for encouraging their crew to take the helm and gain some racing experience.
